Our client, based in East London are looking for a Contaminated Land Officer to ensure the Council fulfils its statutory functions in relation to Contaminated Land and in particular to ensure that the public health impacts contaminated land are managed appropriate through the planning system.
The officer will be the primary consultee on all contaminated land matters associated with all levels of planning submissions including to implement the Council’s Contaminated Land Inspection Strategy in accordance with part IIA of the Environment Protection Act. The officer will also adopt a positive approach to contaminated land that secures the quality of sites appropriate for their proposed redevelopment; if necessary, the post holder will represent the Council at appeals and inquiries.
The officer will also be required to manage contaminated land searches, identify and assist with projects for the remediation of contaminated land and advise the Council as a landowner in its discharging of duties relating to land contamination.
This is a 6 month placement (initially) paying £35PH Umbrella. We will submit at a higher rate if needed however.
