This role reports directly to the Chief Exec and is a key role within the senior management team. You will work alongside the Director of Public Health and the Director of Adult Social Care to provide strategic decision-making to maximise the health impact of all council policies and operational leadership to the delivery of services. You will be expected to make an active contribution and input into corporate strategic decision making
As well as working across the entire Council, the post holder will provide public health advice and work closely with private sector, voluntary sector and community sector organisations that can impact on health. You will have a very important role to play in influencing the attitudes and behaviour of both professionals and the population generally and developing new ways of doing things through digitisation.
On a daily basis you will advise the Health and Wellbeing Board, elected members and the executive team, as well as the wider system, on public health issues and improvement. You will lead /influence the development of strategic plans to deliver the Council's vision, goals and objectives and you will make recommendations about the most cost-effective use of spend.
You will have 6-8 direct reports and budgetary responsibility of £9m.
We are looking for a proven leader with a track record managing public health services. You will be highly focused with excellent decision making skills and the ability to lead and motivate staff to achieve desired outcomes. You will be someone who thrives under pressure and is able to make positive impact and change.
The role will run for at least 6 months, will be predominantly home based and pay £700-£800 per day (umbrella). A full detailed JD is available on request.
