Full Description

Our client in the South west of London is looking to appoint a Community Safety Officer to provide a Serious Violence Needs Assessment in the borough in line with Violence Reduction Unit Grant agreement. There is a separate possibility of further assessment work across all the other areas of the South West Basic Command Unit on completion of the current project.

The Needs Assessment will incorporate the public health model of violence prevention and is intended to inform future strategic priorities for crime prevention and public health to reduce and prevent serious violence across the Community Safety Partnership. The assessment will provide a new analytical foundation to the work of the Partnership, utilising quantitative and qualitative research and provide a gap analysis of existing service provision.

This is very much a strategic role whereby you will be planning a coordinated, proactive and preventative approach. You will need to incorporate quantitative analysis of crime, health, and other data sets in partnership with the Analytics and Insights Team, Met Police analysis team, Wandsworth Children's Service and other local authority partners

You will be expected to identify the underlying, long term risk factors that are driving violence in our communities, with an understanding of the public health approach to violence prevention. In order to achieve this you will need to work as required in ways that develop good working relations and collaborative arrangements with partner and other external organisations.

Given the nature of this role it will be essential that you have experience of working in local authority or statutory organisations, particularly in community safety, public health, national probation service or policing.

The client is looking for someone to start this assignment ASAP. The initial contract is set at 3 months with the chance of extension. This is a senior role within the local authority and the pay rate will be £45-£52/hour (umbrella)
