Senior Planning Officer is required for a development management role with our client, a Local Authority based in South East London. You will be required to assess all types of planning and associated applications, carry out site visits and consultation as well as lead on negotiations for a range of planning applications.
On a daily basis you will be expected to produce accurate, detailed written reports within our clients agreed timescales which may mean you are often working to demanding deadlines. As a member of the DM team, you will work closely with Planning Enforcement Officers and the council's Legal Services department to deliver a professional service. As part of you role you will be involved with negotiating agreements under S.106 of the Town and Country Planning Act and you will also work on planning appeals cases.
To apply for this role you will need to be a degree qualified Town Planner with a strong development management background. You will need to be comfortable managing your own caseload and able to work well under pressure when required. You will need to be well organised and confident dealing with external third parties and able to produce well written communications. Your strong knowledge of UK planning legislation will enable you to provide pre-application advice and you will be confident when advising developers on planning proposals; good negotiation skills are essential.
Our client is looking to pay around £25-£27 p/hr and this will initally be a 3 month contract, but there might be the possibility of an extension.
