Full Description

We have an interesting opportunity for a Senior Planning Officer to work with two Local Authorities based in the Home Counties who are in the process of implementing a shared Planning Service. This will be an 18 month placement.

Initially this role will be a backfill position within one of these local authorities where you will work within a development management team assessing all types of pre-application enquiries, applications and appeals. On a daily basis you will be expected to produce accurate, detailed written reports within our clients agreed timescales which may mean you are often working to demanding deadlines.

When there is no further need for the backfill position, you will move into a role split between both authorities to assist them in the design and implementation of a shared Planning Service.

To apply for this role you will need to be a degree qualified Town Planner with a strong development management background. You will need to be comfortable managing your own caseload and able to work well under pressure when required. You will need to be well organised and confident dealing with external third parties and able to produce well written communications. Your strong knowledge of UK planning legislation will enable you to provide pre-application advice and you will be confident when advising developers on planning proposals; good negotiation skills are essential.

The role is based in the South East and it will be an 18 month position, the client is to open considering candidates on either a fixed term contract or hourly contract basis. The salary offered for a fixed term contract is £35,435 - £39,285, and the hourly rate offered is £28 - £35p/hr.
