Full Description

Excellent opportunity to work for one of the UKs leading food retail organisations in the capacity of Retail Environmental Health Officer. The role will primarily be based in London with occasional travel required to other locations and will focus on providing advice on reducing environmental health risks associated with food retail. Essentially this is a compliance role and will call upon your strong technical knowledge of food safety issues to help formulate strategies and policies to reduce any chance of prosecutions against the organisation. For example, one task you will be asked to complete will be the assessment of the risk associated with pest infestation and you will communicate a corporate message across the organisation.

Our client operates a number of units of varying size and your work will focus on the larger stores. On a daily basis you will carry out site audits to assess compliance and to determine the pest risk as well as other associated risks based on hygiene and housekeeping standards. Following audit you will be required to advise on best practice guidelines and appropriate preventative measures. Our client is keen to develop forward thinking approaches and will actively encourage the use of technology and will be looking for you to advise on the best solutions. Typically your remit will cover areas including: date code adherence, Feed Licence adherence, HACCP in store, temperature controls and recalls adherence.

The perfect candidate for this role would be a fully qualified Environmental Health Officer who has worked in a retail environment previously and understands the pressures and need to respond quickly in a fast paced environment. Previous audit experience is a big advantage but our client would also give consideration to those working in local authority food / H&S enforcement capacity who can demonstrate an understanding of the challenges faced by a food retail organisation. IT literacy is essential and you will need good communication skills with the ability to advise and influence our client's internal management team. A full UK driving licence is required as this role will involve travelling between sites.
