The expertise of officials with
jobs in environmental health has been requested by a West Dorset resident who found damp throughout his property.
According to the View Online, tenant Alex Michael contacted council inspectors to examine the increasing problem in his Wollaston Road property.
Magna, the housing association responsible for the maintenance work on the home, has reportedly refused to carry out improvements due to the basement not being utilised.
After allegedly developing respiratory problems as a result of the conditions, Mr Michaels has been forced to stay with friends or a bed and breakfast, the publication stated.
Sarah Ward, West Dorset District Council's housing manager, said: "We are discussing the possible remedial options with Magna and trust that this matter will be resolved satisfactorily."
The local authority's dedicated environmental health staff carry out regular inspections on a range of establishments to ensure the public's safety is not put at risk by restaurants, pollution or pests in the area.
