Trading standards seize hundreds of goods in Birmingham raid
Specialists with trading standards jobs seized hundreds of goods when they raided a business in Birmingham.

Birmingham Trading Standards' team investigated a Small Heath firm to find it was filled with goods that did not meet safety legislation, reports the Birmingham Mail.

A spokesman for the group told the newspaper: "The premises were an Aladdin's cave, filled from floor to ceiling with products including cosmetics, cream, toiletries and furniture."

They inspected the building after officers had purchased some illegal cosmetics from shops in the city.

The spokesman added that they did not have ingredient labels in English, implying they have not been tested according to European standards.

Customers were advised not to purchase items if the labelling is not in English as "there is little way of knowing whether or not it contains harmful substances".

Consumers who are not satisfied with their product were told to write to the trader and the head office to explain the grievances or to contact trading standards officers for more information and advice.
