Trading standards officials warn Take That fans over fake tickets
People with jobs in trading standards in South Lanarkshire have issued residents with a warning over a scam involving Take That tickets.

According to the Hamilton Advertiser, a number of fans have been left disappointed after purchasing passes from counterfeit website Ticket Index.

The local authority's warning comes after one consumer spent £225 on two tickets for the upcoming Hampden Park concert next week.

Paying by debit card, the unsuspecting customer received a receipt and reference number, yet the desired items are yet to be delivered.

Helen O'Neill, divisional trading standards officer, said: "There are numerous sites where the sole purpose is to scam the consumer. And they come into their own in situations such as these where demand outstrips supply for tickets."

The local authority's dedicated trading standards division provides guidance for businesses and retailers to ensure they comply with sales regulations.

Paying particular attention to the county's regional companies, the taskforce urges residents to make contact if they feel they have been unfairly treated.
