People with
jobs in town planning could see themselves working on a new project after officials approved plans to regenerate Rothesay.
The Scottish seaside town will be given a makeover using more than £3 million of lottery funding in a bid to increase tourism.
Formerly a popular place for holidaymakers, the location has failed to attract people in recent years due to depopulation and demolition in some prominent areas.
Changing holiday patterns have also led to a reduction of tourism in the area, which was a hotspot for guests in the 1930s.
The Isle of Bute and Guildford Square will also receive a share of the Heritage Lottery Fund to make improvements in the area.
Councillor Len Scoullar said: "This announcement means that former jewels in the town's crown are now to be restored to their former glory."
The Heritage Lottery Fund recently announced plans to offer £10 million in funding to regenerate seven cities and towns across the UK.
