Officers with jobs in town planning are set to begin work on the Radcliffe Infirmary site.
According to the Oxford Mail, the development to build Oxford University a £500 million campus began yesterday (August 11th).
The ten-acre site between Woodstock Road, Somerville College, Green Templeton College and Walton Street, will be renovated to include a new accommodation suite for Somerville College.
Dame Fional Caldicott, principal of Somerville told the newspaper: "It's a really important development for the college, benefiting our students as well as helping to secure our future financially."
It is likely that the construction work to the block, due to be completed by September 2011, will require the assistance of a lot of officers with town planning jobs in the area, as well as the other developments, which are expected to be finished by 2013.
Earlier this month, director of external affairs at the Federation of Master Builders Brian Berry said that the government needed to do more to support apprentices looking to develop a career in town planning.
