A number of town planning jobs will be needed if plans to restore a museum in Birmingham go ahead.
The proposals to revamp the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery include redesigning its WWII bomb-damaged rooftop, as well as revealing some of its original features, according to the Birmingham Mail.
A new exhibition centre which will chart the city's history is also expected to be built using a £4.9 million lottery fund.
The city's conservationist panel has shown particular interest in changing the Council House extension.
Building plans are set to involve constructing a skylight and creating new gallery spaces.
Later this month, Birmingham's development committee will decide whether the proposals will go ahead, which could have a significant impact on the number of town planning jobs available in the area.
The newspaper also reported that initiatives to create a new wing to the museum were also in operation before Birmingham lost out as the Capital of Culture, after Londonderry took the title earlier this week.
