Those with town planning jobs may be buoyed by news that planning fees on applications are to be frozen.
In moves unveiled by housing and planning minister John Healey, keeping such costs at their present rates should save £23 million a year, helping them to continue to invest in projects as the country looks to emerge from the economic downturn.
Such savings, he adds, should also help firms to generate jobs, something that people seeking town planning contract work may be interested to hear.
Furthermore, fees for planning appeals will not be introduced this year in order to avoid placing further financial difficulties on businesses.
"At a time when investing in new developments is difficult and when access to funding is hard, it would be wrong to increase the costs of developers who will help drive economic recovery," he notes.
People searching for jobs in the planning industry may also be interested to note that multimillion pound regeneration proposals for the area surrounding Leicester Cathedral were recently unveiled, including the creation of a public square.
