A town planning job that could see the construction of 5,000 homes over the course of the next three decades has moved one step closer following the acquisition of 100 acres of land.
P3Eco, the consortium working on the Bicester eco-town project with Cherwell District Council, said it now has enough land to build 1,000 homes.
It intends to submit a planning application to initially build 200 new properties, with a start date for construction pencilled in for spring 2011, reports the Oxford Mail.
A masterplan for the entire 850-acre site will be submitted to the council by the end of this year.
Last week, P3Eco filled one of its top town planning jobs by appointing architect Sir Terry Farrell to draw up a masterplan on how the town of Wallingford can be expanded.
Sir Terry has previously worked on the designs for the MI6 headquarters and Charing Cross railway station.
