A town planning job in Cheshire has been confirmed after Scarborough Development Group (SDG) announced the expansion of a three-acre town centre site.
Earlier this week, the development company announced that it has received planning permission to build a 60,000 square foot store, a 96-room hotel and a car park for 241 cars.
Plans for a new market hall, which will house 11 indoor and 36 outdoor stalls, as well as pedestrian links to the town centre, have also been accepted.
Damian Flood, development manager for SDG, said: "This redevelopment will revitalise the town centre and provide a major boost for residents and visitors."
This facelift in Congleton will come as good news to those looking for jobs in town planning in the area, as it is likely to demand the skills of many officers once it gets underway.
The scheme, which will be funded by Investec Private Ban, is part of SDG's plans to develop eight town centres, including ones in Stockport, Preston and Wigan.
