Town planning chief opposes further development in Battle
An official in an important town planning job has stated his opposition to further housing developments taking place in the town of Battle.

Ron Harris, chairman of the Battle Town Council Planning Committee, told the Rye and Battle Observer that plans to build more homes in the area could prove to be problematic.

"In our view, the infrastructure of the town is already under such pressure that yet more development could effectively strangle the town," he said.

Mr Harris said the committee will be consulted on its views about future house building in the area later in the year and it is important to put across its concerns in a forceful manner.

Last week, staff in town planning jobs with Wokingham Borough Council played a part in an application to build new flats in the area being turned down.

It was said the proposed development could negatively affect wildlife living close to the planned site, reported the Wokingham Times.
