An organisation representing professionals in town planning jobs has lent its support to a proposed series of reforms in Wales.
The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) has backed the 16 recommendations on planning applications made in an independent report presented to the Welsh Assembly.
Among the planned changes - which have also been supported by government ministers is the introduction of a standard approach to validating applications, as well as clarification on the scope of design and access statements.
Roisin Willmott, RTPI Cymru national director, said: "The proposals
would improve the planning application process by making it less cumbersome, helping to foster economic recovery."
She added that those in town planning jobs in Wales are looking forward to working alongside the government to help deliver the changes.
Earlier this month, RTPI president Ann Skippers visited the Welsh town of Newport, where she praised the regeneration projects currently taking place there, reported the South Wales Argus.
