Town planners to meet over Gypsy site application

Town planners to meet over Gypsy site application
Professionals in town planning jobs and local councillors are to decide whether an application to create 14 residential Gypsy pitches in Wiltshire should be approved.

It is proposed that the designated travellers' site is situated close to Calcutt Farm in Crickdale and town planners are set to be make a decision on the plan tomorrow (April 28th 2010), reports This is Wiltshire.

Peter Colmer, chairman of the Northern Area Planning Committee for Wiltshire Council, said: "We know there's a need but the application must meet other considerations as well."

Among the factors that will be considered before a vote takes place is the potential impact on the appearance and character of the local area, as well as how the Human Rights Act affects the proposal.

Earlier this month, the Conservative Party used its manifesto to pledge to give local residents more power in deciding what developments take place in their area.
