Town planners tell councillors to reject proposed housing development
Officials in town planning jobs with Axminster Town Council have voiced their opposition to a proposed housing development.

A report has recommended that councillors reject an outline planning application to build up to 400 homes in an area of Axminster.

Among the objections raised by staff in town planning jobs were concerns about congestion, as well as if sewerage systems would be able to cope with serving the extra properties, reports Devon24.

Councillors said that while they were not opposed in principle to developing the site, which is located close to the Cloakham Lawns Sports Centre, infrastructure improvements will be required before such work could take place.

Earlier this month, a town planning official from Seaford Town Council recommended that permission was refused for an application to build 11 new homes in the area.

Alan Edgar said the new buildings would overlook existing ones, leading to privacy problems for residents, reported Eastbourne Today.
