People in town planning jobs were among those showcasing regeneration proposals for a Birmingham suburb this week.
More than 400 local residents turned out to see an exhibition which showed how the town centre of Shirley could look if the planned work goes ahead, the Birmingham Mail reports.
The Parkgate scheme would see the creation of 20 new shops, a superstore, new apartment buildings and high-end townhouses.
At the meeting this week, residents discussed issues such as traffic, trade and the potential benefits the regeneration could offer with town planning officials and developers.
Robert Birch of Shirley Advance said he was pleased with the exhibition.
"Public consultation has been an extremely important aspect of this project from the very beginning and has helped shape the design and scope of the plans," he added.
Birmingham was ranked as the 55th most livable city in the world earlier this year by the Mercer Index.
