A scheme put forward by Sheffield City Council is likely to be welcomed by people with jobs in environment and sustainability.
The local authority's Transport Vision sets out its plans on how to improve the city's travelling agenda for the next 15 years.
As well as providing ways for citizens to make "informed travel choices", it also highlights means of transport that will have a positive effect on the environment.
These include car sharing initiatives and an improvement on safe cycle and walking routes.
Councillor Ian Auckland, cabinet member for business, transport and skills at the council, said: "We want to move away from the negative perception that Sheffield's transport system has had in the past and move forward to create a system that works for Sheffield people."
People with experience in environment and sustainability jobs have previously helped establish a cycle map for the city - available on the local authority's website - ensuring that visitors and local residents know the best ways to traverse the area on their bikes.
