Officers with jobs in regeneration could be required if regulations restricting town planning work is lifted.
Tendring Council has restrictions on building work in Jaywick, Essex, as it is a flood risk zone, but the local authority's town planning committee has agreed to consider further regeneration work on the seaside town, the Daily Gazette reported.
Jaywick Community Forum are positive that this step will lead to a transformation of the resort, which could encourage more visitors to the area.
Members of the group, along with homeowners, are planning to meet tomorrow (September 3rd 2010) to discuss the council's actions.
Forum member Ian Burritt told the newspaper: "Let's show them some of the better housing and what we can aspire to. Councillors need to be educated."
Last month, a regeneration study was conducted in Lancashire to determine whether a redevelopment of Rawtenstall town centre should go a head.
