Around 300 regeneration jobs are to be created in Birmingham as part of plans to build a 56-storey tower in the city.
Work will start on the construction of a new hotel, apartments, offices and restaurants on Birmingham's Broad Street after planning permission was granted to the site's developers.
A Sky Bar will be created on the 30th floor of the new Regal Tower, with a banqueting suite also included in the proposals.
Mark Holbeche of developers Regal Property Group said it is delighted with the positive outcome, citing the importance and significance of the regeneration job.
He added that the prime gateway site will become a "focal point for the area".
The building of the Regal Tower, which will take five years and will create 400 jobs once completed, is said to play a large part in the regeneration of the city.
Another large regeneration project in the city is taking place at New Street station, where Network Rail is creating a new concourse as well as upgrading all the platforms.
