People with
social housing jobs in Consett could see themselves working on a new project after the launch of a new development.
Four three-bedroom semi-detached properties will be built to tackle a shortage of affordable family homes across the County Durham district.
Social landlord Derwentside Homes will run the scheme, which is part of a £2.4 million investment.
Using a £1.1 million investment from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), the company also completed projects of 20 affordable homes at Dales View and West Ellimore View in Consett.
Houses built as part of the new development will be installed with eco-friendly technologies - such as solar panel thermals - to lower carbon emissions and energy costs.
Steven Melvin of Derwentside Homes said: "Many local families will benefit from these fabulous new homes, which boast new design features and technology."
The landlord recently launched a development in Stanley to convert eight two-bedroom flats into four affordable family homes.
