People with
jobs in environmental health in Hartlepool have targeted noisy neighbours as part of a new scheme.
According to the Hartlepool Mail, 16 people have been arrested since the relaunch of the programme earlier this month.
Worried residents have been given the chance to contact dedicated noise pollution officers between 22:00 and 03:00 BST on Fridays and Saturdays in a bid to combat the issue.
As part of the scheme, officers often return to the scene in order to ensure the neighbour has reduced the volume levels, which could see them fined up to £5,000.
Hartlepool Borough Council's Adrian Hurst said: "Our initial approach is to go and have a word with the people causing the problem and if they take our advice ... then we won't pursue it any further."
The local authority has urged residents to telephone the specially created telephone number if they feel intimated by disturbances caused by neighbours.
