Nick Kavanagh is to become interim director for regeneration at Liverpool council.
The Liverpool Daily Post reports he has been granted the role of interim director for regeneration and will have responsibility for driving forward a renaissance in Liverpool construction, as well as delivering more regeneration jobs and overseeing the ongoing £5.5 billion Liverpool Waters scheme.
He said: "I want to ensure that we keep up the momentum of our regeneration work, and drive forward those projects which boost our economy and create jobs."
Mr Kavanagh added that he is delighted to be taking on the role, which he feels is one of the most exciting and challenging jobs in local government.
Elsewhere, local publication the Liverpool Echo recently reported that senior planners are considering an application for the construction of 400 new homes in Canvey centre.
The proposals, put forward by the Castle Point Regeneration Partnership, aim to pay particular attention to the Knightswick Road area and could cost up to £100 million.
