Management teams should monitor the amount of paper being used in their offices in a bid to improve environment and sustainability, an expert has claimed.
According to Rhonda Ascertio - analyst for technology advisor Ovum - companies could significantly reduce their carbon footprint by making small changes to business methods.
Printing and paper management has been recommended as an inexpensive and simple technique for companies to limit general waste.
"Solutions to automate policies for double-sided printing and defaulting to an eco-font that uses less ink than a regular font" were two effortless ways of reducing wastage in the office, Ms Ascierto remarked.
Companies could prevent paying large amounts of money on energy bills by reducing desktop energy use, which could save as much as £22 per year for every PC.
Ms Ascertio's advice comes after Ovum research revealed nearly three-quarters of chief executives have adopted green IT within their organisation, with eight per cent pledging to do so before the end of 2012.
