A town planning job in London has been handed a prestigious award by Boris Johnson.
The Regent Street Vision scheme, which involved the renovation and remodelling of historic buildings, was given the Award for Planning Excellence by the capital's major at the annual London Planning Awards.
It was given the award after being deemed to have successfully combined respect for the city's architectural heritage with modern designs.
In the new category of Best Historic Building Management, the Royal Arsenal Riverside initiative was chosen as the winner.
Mr Johnson said that those in town planning jobs have an important role to play in helping improve the quality of life in London.
"It's particularly important during these tough times for the economy that we press on with developing our city so that the capital emerges from the downturn stronger and more competitive," he added.
Last week, Mr Johnson approved the construction of 3,750 homes in the Southall area of the city.
