People with
jobs in trading standards have seized high quantities of counterfeit goods from a home in Lancashire.
Council officials carried out the raid on a property located between Burnley and Accrington yesterday (June 7th).
Conducted as part of a series of swoops across the county, the operation saw counterfeit brand clothing, wallets and key rings worth an estimated £34,000 confiscated from the home.
As part of the crackdown on rogue trading, council officials also found fake GHD hair straighteners in Oswaldtwistle and illegal tobacco in Nelson.
Albert Atkinson, deputy leader of Lancashire County Council, said: "Fake goods may be linked with serious crime and counterfeiters make a fortune while avoiding paying much-needed taxes."
The local authority's trading standards department aims to protect the interests of consumers by enforcing quality control legislation.
Council officials carry out regular investigations, which follow complaints from local people who feel they have been treated unfairly.
