An apprentice with hopes of having a job in trading standards has launched a nationwide initiative.
Arjun Rajyagor, who won the BBC TV show Junior Apprentice, released the Trading Standards Institute CHECK list earlier this week.
The project is aimed at urging young people to be cautious of what they buy on the internet.
Arjun told representatives from the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, Office of Fair Trading, Intellectual Property Office, Electrical Safety Council and the e-retail business that the information will help juveniles be more cautious with their online usage.
The CHECK list is an acronym, which provides useful reminders to young people when spelled out fully. According to the prompt, they should Choose the shopping site carefully, Help themselves by thinking of price and packaging, Ensure the website is safe, Contact the authorities if suspicious and Keep a copy of the order.
Student Finance England also revealed this week that teenagers heading off to university are likely to be targeted by scammers through their emails at the beginning of the term.
