Hereford town planning job given green light
Residents and business owners in Hereford will see their town centre transformed after the announcement of a town planning job.

The 310,000 sq ft Old Livestock Market will be given a makeover after proposals to regenerate the area were given the go-ahead, the Financial Times reports.

Set to be planned by private UK developer Stanhope, the project will also be funded by property company British Land.

It will be developed in a bid to reduce the number of shop owners opting to set up businesses in out-of-town shopping centres.

Stanhope is planning to join forces with a number of local authorities as part of a scheme to revitalise suffering town centres.

This news comes after supermarket chain Morrison's has halted proposals for a new site in North Tyneside, the Evening Chronicle reports.

After rival retailer Asda announced plans to construct a store in Newcastle, company bosses feared there was not enough custom to support the two outlets.
