Residents and business owners in Hereford will see their town centre transformed after the announcement of a
town planning job.
The 310,000 sq ft Old Livestock Market will be given a makeover after proposals to regenerate the area were given the go-ahead, the Financial Times reports.
Set to be planned by private UK developer Stanhope, the project will also be funded by property company British Land.
It will be developed in a bid to reduce the number of shop owners opting to set up businesses in out-of-town shopping centres.
Stanhope is planning to join forces with a number of local authorities as part of a scheme to revitalise suffering town centres.
This news comes after supermarket chain Morrison's has halted proposals for a new site in North Tyneside, the Evening Chronicle reports.
After rival retailer Asda announced plans to construct a store in Newcastle, company bosses feared there was not enough custom to support the two outlets.
