People in environment and sustainability jobs involved with a Welsh Assembly scheme have granted extra time for farmers in the nation to sign up to the initiative.
They now have until November 22nd 2010 to put their names down for the environmental management project, after the Welsh Assembly agreed to extend the deadline because a new woodland management option has just been included in the Glastir programme, reports Farmers Weekly.
To gain additional support for the environmental management project among the farming community in Wales, the Assembly is set to run training events and presentations on the scheme across the country.
Under the planned changes, from 2012 the four currently existing agri-environment programmes will fall under the single entity, which is to be entitled Glastir.
It is hoped that the shift will allow staff in environmental and sustainability jobs to meet current and future challenges in a more efficient manner.
