People with
jobs in environmental health have issued residents and visitors to Loch Lomond with a warning about deadly algae.
The blue-green substance could cause rashes, eye irritation and vomiting to those who come into contact with it, the Daily Record reports.
Council safety officers have advised people to avoid contact with the water at a number of contaminated locations on the east side of the loch.
Visitors have been told to keep away from Rowardennan, Manse Bay and Milarrochy Bay until the completion of an
environmental health job.
A spokesperson from the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park Authority told the newspaper: "We would urge the public to contact Stirling Council Environmental Health team if they notice any wildlife deaths or unusual sightings."
This news comes after environmental health officials in Cumbria issued a safety warning to the public due to the discovery of high levels of algae in a lake, BBC News reports.
Residents and visitors were advised to avoid contact with water in the Killington Lake after officers from South Lakeland Council found the blue-green substance in the area.
