The owner of a restaurant in Cwmbran has been taken to court after people with jobs in environmental health found him to be breaking food safety laws.
Mohammed Badsha Miah, who owns Tamarind restaurant in St Dials, faces 15 charges of food hygiene and health and safety at work breaches, South Wales Argus reports.
He was taken to court after people with jobs in environmental health said he failed to maintain a clean premises on three occasions between September 2009 and March 2010.
Lewis Smith, senior environmental health officer for Torfaen Council, stated that pots of curry were placed on the floor, frozen products not kept in the freezer and there was a problem with storing its waste.
He added that despite cautions, Mr Miah had not done enough to convince the local authority that hygiene standards had sufficiently improved.
Earlier this week, a Chinese restaurant in Blackpool called the Mandarin was taken to court for 37 food hygiene breaches after environmental health officers found slug trails in its kitchen, the Blackpool Gazette reported.
