A Hertfordshire woman has received a fine after officials with jobs in environmental health visited her home due to complaints about loud music.
Tina Bird was found guilty of breaching a noise abatement notice served by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, the St Albans and Harpenden Review reports.
Repeated complaints were made by neighbours regarding loud music playing at Ms Bird's home in Welwyn Garden City, with Watford Magistrates Court ordering that her television and stereo systems be confiscated as a result.
The resident of Lincoln Close was fined £250 in court and ordered to pay costs of £1,015.
"Advice was offered to Tina Bird and the council also issued warnings before court action was taken," said councillor Mandy Perkins, executive member for environmental health.
She told the newspaper that "anyone who has suffered noise nuisance knows the misery and distress it can cause".
A bar in Canvey, Essex, recently saw its opening hours reduced after residents complained to officials with environmental health jobs about late-night noise levels, the Essex Echo reported.
