People with jobs in environmental health in Lincolnshire have been called in to help tackle the problem of a fly infestation in the area.
Residents in the village of Heckington have been complaining about the increase in the number of the insects, the Lincolnshire Echo reported.
One resident, pub landlady Liz Lowes, told the newspaper that she had gone through nine cans of fly spray in four days trying to reduce the nuisance.
Principle environmental health officer Janet Williams from North Kesteven District Council stated that there are a few reasons why the number of flies has increased in the area.
"Several potential sources of flies in the vicinity have been investigated by the environmental protection unit and it is now believed a source has been identified," she commented.
Earlier this month, the Daily Mail reported Dr Stephen Martin, senior research fellow at Sheffield University's department of animal and plant species, as saying there will be more insects around throughout August and into the autumn.
