Officials in environmental health jobs in Ilford have become involved after a customer at a takeaway reportedly suffered an electric shock when ordering food.
A 21-year-old man died on Tuesday night (July 27th) after he visited Tasty Chicken in Seven Kings.
An eyewitness told the Ilford Recorder that he thought the man had suffered an electric shock, which led to his death.
Mohammed Azam, 37, said: "I heard a bang, like something had blown.
"He said, 'electric shock', then fell again. He didn't move after that."
Police and ambulance crew were called to help the victim but paramedics failed to revive him after he fell unconscious.
Redbridge Council's environmental health officers were also pulled in to help investigate the cause of death, which Mr Azam said he is "110 per cent sure" was the result of an electric shock.
On the same day, the owner of a Chinese restaurant in London was fined £30,000 after environmental health inspectors discovered "appalling" standards of hygiene, including cockroach eggs in prawn cracker bowls.
