Professionals in environmental health jobs with Preston Council have become involved in a case related to a sandwich shop with low hygiene standards.
The environmental health officers ordered the closure of Sublicious in the Friargate area of the town last year after an inspection revealed it to have very poor cleaning standards, as well as to be using of out-of-date food.
Business owner Anis Vohra, of Fulwood, was later electronically tagged and issued with a curfew order after admitting obstructing food inspectors from the council, reports the Lancashire Evening Post.
While Vorhara has now been freed from his tag, his recent appeal against the £5,580 fine he received for the food hygiene offences has been rejected.
Simon Neighbour, Preston Council's environmental health manager, said: "The magistrates were concerned that they failed to get their business in order.
"The case was rare and puts them in the worst category of businesses."
Earlier this month, officers in environmental health jobs in Cumbria played their part in closing down the unhygienic Tasty Bite takeaway in Ulverston after it failed three inspections, reported the North West Evening Mail.
