Staff in environmental health jobs in Scotland have allowed a branch to reopen following the discovery of mouse droppings in the store last week.
The shop, located in Forrest Road, Edinburgh, was issued with an emergency prohibition order temporarily closing it down last Friday (May 21st 2010), after environmental health officials said they had found the droppings on food preparation areas and throughout the rest of the premises.
But the shop has now been allowed to reopen after it was judged the problems causing the infestation had been tackled, reports the Scotsman.
"Following closure on Friday morning a deep clean was carried out along with instituted pest control measures as well as pest proofing," said a council spokeswoman.
Subway has denied the droppings were in food preparation areas and has asked the council to drop that part of the complaint.
Last month, officials in environmental health jobs ordered the temporary closure of a grocery shop in Leicester.
Dead mice were discovered on the premises of the Euro Food store, reported the Leicester Mercury.
