A man in an environmental health job with Derry City Council has been handed an award for his work with the Chinese community.
Eamonn Toner won the All Island research prize for a corporate improvement investigation he carried out with different Chinese employers operating in the region's catering industry.
He looked into how communications between their businesses and environmental health officers could be improved as part of the council's Good Relations Strategy, reports the Londonderry Sentinel.
Mr Toner said he was "very honoured" to receive the award and dedicated it to the "many individuals
who worked extremely hard, in the spirit of true partnership, to ensure the success of this much-needed work".
Earlier this month, the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health praised the work of professionals in Northern Ireland for helping to maintain the smoking ban.
It said that studies have found the air quality in bars in the country is 93 per cent better than it was before the legislation was implemented.
