A fish and chip restaurant in the West Midlands was penalised after staff in environmental health jobs found it was selling out-of-date food.
Earlier today (July 22nd), the Express and Star reported that owner of East Park Chippy Maninder Dosanjh was made to pay £715 for breaching food hygiene regulations.
The owner was taken to court after environmental health officers performed a routine check on the takeaway in January 2010 and discovered it had been serving customers steak and kidney pies which were five days out of date.
They also discovered that the contaminated food was kept in a fridge with fresh produce and so could have infected all the healthy groceries.
Wolverhampton Magistrates Court ruled that a £300 fine should be paid, as well as costs of £400.
Nearby Birmingham Crown Court recently found Miao Shen, owner of Chinese takeaway Golden Bowl, guilty of breaking hygiene regulations and she was issued a fine of £600.
