There could be a greater demand for people with jobs in environment and sustainability to help reduce the amount of waste produced in the UK.
One area that is paying particular attention to the problem of landfill sites and rubbish is Nottingham, after Notts County Council and Nottingham City Council announced they will draw up a waste disposal plan, according to the Nottingham Post.
They have confirmed that they will establish a strategy for the next 20 years to reduce the 4.4. million tonnes of waste produced by the county each year.
Richard Butler, the county council's portfolio holder for environment and sustainability, said that people's views on the matter could greatly contribute to helping find a resolution to the problem.
"Councils have the very difficult job of deciding where disposal and recycling sites should be situated in the future," he commented.
Last month, environment and sustainability officers in Weymouth also called for residents to come forward with suggestions on how to combat the growing problem of rubbish in the area, the Dorset Echo reported.
