There could be a greater demand for officers with jobs in environment and sustainability after it was suggested that more manufacturers are likely to be concerned about their energy output in the future.
According to Paul Anderson, programme director for infrastructure outsourcing at IT services provider Capgemini, it is becoming increasingly important for firms to be conscious of their impact on environment and sustainability.
He stated that it will be "critical" in the future as "everyone [is] becoming more aware of the requirement".
His comments could lead to more businesses employing officers with jobs in environment and sustainability to ensure that their mechanisms achieve energy efficient goals.
Mr Anderson stated businesses are also likely to be interested as "for elements of sustainability and greening, there can be massive savings", as well as bringing down their carbon footprint.
Capgemini recently announced that next month it will launch a data centre which it claims will be the world's most energy efficient and will set a new standard for sustainability within businesses.
