People with jobs in environment and sustainability in Stockport have been encouraging local residents to be greener over the festive period.
It has urged locals to think about recycling over Christmas and be considerate of the environment during this busy time.
Councillor Stuart Bodsworth, executive member for the environment at the local authority, said there are many things residents can do to cut down on carbon emissions.
"Going green starts at home, so as well as wishing people a very Merry Christmas, I would like to encourage people to take a moment to think how they can do their bit," he said.
His suggestions include shopping locally and cooking with leftovers, as well as recycling.
Lovefoodhatewaste.com has also issued recipes that can be used for food that has not been eaten during the holiday, including a chocolate ice cream, turkey and ham pie, vegetable curry and Christmas strudel.
Mr Bodsworth also noted that being more environmentally-friendly will save people money, as well as cut down on carbon emissions.
