An officer with a job in environment and sustainability has encouraged local residents to come forward to have their say on tackling the problem of rubbish in the area.
Weymouth and Portland Borough Council has recognised that something needs to be done to help clean up the streets in Park District after residents complained about piles of litter caused by seagulls scattering the contents of refuse bins, the Dorset Echo reports.
Councillor Brendan Webster, a spokesman for environment and sustainability at the local authority, showed his support for residents to voice their opinions over what can be done to reduce this problem in the future.
He said: "Some research has already been done by council officers to look at ways to solve the problem. But I am sure that there are many residents out there who have their own ideas."
Last week, the Courier reported that there has been a growing problem of seagulls in Montrose after residents complained that the gulls have become "more brazen than ever" and leave a lot of rubbish in the area.
