A town planning job involving the construction of a new environmentally-friendly community has moved a step closer after proposals were submitted.
Developer Hunter Page Planning wants to build around 2,000 new homes to form an eco-town close to Sharpness that would include a wind turbine and solar panels.
The planning application for the work has now been put before Stroud District Council, reports BBC News.
Paul Fong, from Hunter Page Planning, said the company has been careful to meet the council's core development strategy and was looking into using a nearby canal for transport, as well as connecting the region up to the Bristol-Gloucester railway line.
"I want to show how we can create a sustainable community right from the outset," he stated.
Earlier this month, the Royal Town Planning Institute said it wants to meet with the new government in order to discuss how professionals working in the sector can help with tackling climate change.
