People with jobs in town planning may have been involved in a £300,000 scheme to turn offices in Dudley into affordable homes.
The ground floor of Priory Chambers, a Georgian structure in a conservation area of the West Midlands town, will be converted into four properties by Jephson Homes Housing Association.
A specialist masonry and stone repair firm has been hired to work on the restoration of sensitive stonework on the front of the building, with the conversion project due to be completed by March 2011.
"This work is part of the wider regeneration of the area and will provide quality homes at affordable rents, helping to meet local housing needs," said Hannah Woodall, development officer at the housing association.
Two upper storeys of the building have already been converted by Jephson Homes into flats for affordable rent.
The regeneration of Barry in south Wales were handed a boost recently after 16 town planning projects received funding worth £3.86 million from the Welsh Assembly Government.
