David Cameron has announced plans to transform the way town planning jobs are carried out.
The Conservative Party leader declared that he believes there is a "real problem" with planning procedures as developers, councils and local residents battle to have their voices heard.
Mr Cameron said that he wants to change the way town planning jobs are decided giving greater power to local people by inviting every household in an area to a meeting before a so-called Local Plan is submitted to the relevant council.
He added that he thinks the system will not only help improve town planning jobs but also society as a whole.
"This won't just help to improve our broken planning system - it'll help to build stronger communities and help to mend our broken society too," Mr Cameron stated.
Last month, housing minister John Healey announced that fees on planning applications are to be frozen in order to help developers in town planning jobs carry out necessary work.
