People interested in environment and sustainability in London will be given the opportunity to rent electric vehicles as part of a pilot scheme.
Vehicle lender Enterprise has announced plans to run a year-long test, which will allow individuals to borrow one of eight Peugeot iOn cars.
In addition, the rental business plans to add charging points for electric cars in 11 of its London branches in a bid to reduce carbon emissions in the capital.
Enterprise has also pledged to collect customers who live near to the M25 to display the benefits of the eco-friendly vehicle.
Rob Ingram, director of Enterprise, said: "This trial will help us to explore the potential of these cars together with our first selected partner, Peugeot, which will also be able to use our network to obtain vital customer feedback."
The Peugeot iOn is the company's first entirely electric vehicle, which has been created for private drivers, businesses and public bodies to enjoy lower emissions.
