Motor trader BMW has unveiled intentions to improve environment and sustainability standards across its UK dealerships.
Stemming from the company's success in introducing low-carbon technology to its new vehicles, the manufacturer is set to take similar steps to increase energy efficiency throughout its showrooms.
BMW has enlisted specialists to examine the use of heat, electricity, air conditioning systems in its buildings in a bid to tackle the most relevant areas.
Energy-efficient light bulbs, solar panels and wind turbines will be installed throughout dealerships in order to comply with Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) guidelines.
Tim Abbott, managing director of BMW UK, said: "The dealers are in this with us together and we plan to remain at the forefront of green building and stay as the class-leading premium car manufacturer when it comes to CO2 emissions."
Since its launch in 1990, BREEAM has completed assessments on 200,000 buildings to improve sustainability and reduce running costs for businesses and residents.
